French Door Dilemma

French doors are a challenge to cover. Shutters offer a superb solution because they are attached directly to the door, preventing the rattling and swaying typical of blinds or curtains. When designed properly, they will blend seamlessly with your door. They can be customized with square or round cutouts to ensure unobstructed access to the door handles and lock. Custom-matched paint or stain is always included with shutters from Newport Custom Shutters.

Poly or Wood Shutters for Bathrooms

Are poly or wood shutters appropriate for bathrooms? This is a great question that we are frequently asked. The answer is that both types of shutters can be used in bathrooms. Wood shutters will work in almost all bathroom scenarios. The exception is for shutters that are directly inside a shower, where they will be consistently sprayed with water. This is where we would recommend a poly shutter. Due to our manufacturing and finishing process, shutters in both materials will offer a durable, low-maintenance, and beautiful solution for your bathroom windows. We have included some photos below of shutters we have designed and installed in homes. Call us to discuss which type will work best in your home.

Plantation Shutters With Custom Color Matching

As the manufacturer we custom-match every shutter to your specific color. The most common request is for the shutters to match the window casing or trim to create a seamless, integrated look. For a bolder aesthetic, what is trending lately is to use a high contrast or dark color to emphasize the architectural presence that shutters provide. Either way, we work with you to achieve your vision.

Should you choose Plantation or Traditional Shutters

This is such a great question and deserves to be explored in greater detail. We offer 5 louver sizes ranging from 1-1/4” to 4-1/2”. The louver size you choose can be determined by the aesthetic you wish to achieve, the level of light control desired, and the size of your windows. Our most popular sizes are 2-1/2” and 3-1/2” louvers. Choosing one of these will allow you to have fewer louvers and therefore more light. However, if you are looking for a more traditional look, the smaller 1-1/4” or 1-7/8” size may be the best choice. We have installed shutters in 1000’s of homes over our 20 years of business here in Redmond. We have included a few photos of our shutters, comprising all of the louver sizes we offer. If you would like us to help you visualize the options in your home, contact us for a no-obligation in-home estimate. We will provide skilled advice on which louver size options would best suit your windows and your home’s aesthetic.

Interior Shutters: Are They Modern or Classic

The answer is actually both. Shutters are a versatile window treatment that bridges both classic and modern styles. While they can offer a traditional, elegant look in a classic home, they are also widely used in contemporary homes known for their clean lines and sleek minimalism. Modern versions of shutters feature wider louvers, hidden tilt rods, and simple framing. Classic interiors are equally well served by more traditional shutters, typically made with narrower louvers and a center tilt rod. We’d love to work with you to design the exact shutters that will suit your interior taste. We have included some photos below of our work.
