A respected Seattle builder constructed an inviting outdoor entertaining area, but the client needed some privacy from the neighbors. To accommodate this request, we constructed 1-1/2" thick exterior western red cedar shutters which complemented the outdoor area.
Shutters for Hotel Monaco
Hotel Monaco chose Newport Custom Shutters to shutter their hotel. After a client consultation, we decided it would be a great idea to replace the existing small louvered shutters with a larger more contemporary louver size to highlight the spectacular city views of downtown Seattle. The shutters enhance the modern chic vibe of the recently redesigned hotel. It was a pleasure to be a part of this project. Please view the photos below!
Exterior Shutters for Cape Cod Home
Our latest project was just completed for a Cape Cod style home on Bainbridge Island. We crafted exterior shutters with a flat panel and beaded stiles. Shutters were made out of weather resistant Western red cedar, painted a custom color, and included copper capping. These shutters were only crafted after consulting with the client and making some samples to ensure we had the design exactly as the owner's had envisioned. Below are the before and after photos.
Fulfilling unique need with perfect solution
We were approached by a noted interior designer to design shutters to suit a customer's unique specifications. The request was for shutters with two side controls placed on the outside edges of the shutters rather than the center. The louver size needed to be large to accommodate sweeping areas of glass, however the client preferred the final product to be as streamlined as possible. With this in mind, we fabricated several samples with a distinct louver size to replicate the shutters the customer had in a previous home. One style was approved by the customer, the shutters were crafted in our factory, and carefully installed in the customer's home. The customer and her husband were impressed by the final product and agreed that the shutters exactly replicated what they had before. This is an example of how great design combined with the client's valuable input can produce superb results.
Double hung shutters for traditional Seattle Home
Just a quick story about this lovely traditional home in Seattle. The new homeowner loved the traditional 1-1/4" louver shutters that had been installed in this dining room a few years back by the previous owners, but preferring a little more privacy she called Newport Custom Shutters wondering if we possibly match the shutters below with shutters for the upper portion. Thankfully we are a custom wood shop and can manufacture to match any style of previous shutters. Here is the finished result. An added bonus is now that the upper portion of the window is filled in with wood shutters the window becomes much more insulating in both winter and summer with the shutters closed!
